Timorasso is an ancient grape that were traditionally planted in South-East corner of Piemonte. The grape variety is said has been around since Roman time. Despite the variety had almost been entirely wiped out by phylloxera, it is now making a great come-back. Due to its strong minerality, high acidity and intense body, the wines made by Timorasso is often referred as ‘The White Barolo’.
Almost all Timorasso are produced under the appellation Colli Tortonesi DOC. This appellation also produces wines made from Cortese, Barbera and Dolcetto. However almost all Timorasso made would put unofficial designation of ‘Derthona’ on the label. The old name of Tortona town during Roman time, homage to Timorasso’s classical origin. The local producers are currently working on getting this designation to be its own legal appellation, that is entirely dedicated for Timorasso.

After fermentation, the wine spends 6 months on fine lees, enhancing its complexity and wine texture.
The result is a full-bodied white wine, with a fresh taste, citrus and tropical fruit notes and a mineral finish. Rich and refreshing on the palate, this full-body white wine surprises for its structure and softness. This is a white wine that ages well for many years.
